Mossier · Queering Work

Whew - what a year it has been already.  2020 opened up the DEI conversation in ways we couldn’t even imagine. It also ignited a stream of constant attacks on our shared values of equity, inclusion and fairness for all.  November’s election was the clearest signal yet that a new strategic direction is warranted. Our country is evolving, the DEI industry is evolving and Mossier is evolving too.

For starters, we’ve made the difficult decision to sunset our job seeker and recruiting programs including our job board, resume database and hiring events. This decision was extremely difficult mostly because we don’t want to leave our Mossier job seeker community hanging.  We know how hard it is to navigate the job search as an LGBTQ person.  Ultimately, this decision was made for a variety of reasons:

  1. The needs of our clients are evolving.  Between a slow down in hiring and a bullish Trump administration threatening to dismantle DEI, what we’re hearing from clients is they need more support navigating an ever-shifting legal environment, assessing reputational risk and improving the impact of their internal DEI programs.

  2. It’s not what we are best at. There are other players in the LGBTQ recruiting and career coaching space (click here to see our faves) who have made supporting LGBTQ job seekers their core work and we highly encourage you to check them out.

  3. We want to dedicate all of our effort to helping workplaces get set-up so they can actually retain LGBTQ employees once they are hired. We’ve seen first hand, and research is indicating, that biased promotion processes, inconsistent hiring operations and feedback mechanisms and a lack of leadership buy-in is slowing down progress for LGBTQ employees.

Our mission will be the same moving forward. In short, Mossier will continue to enable employment equity for everyone LGBTQ through culture assessments, strategy development and training and coaching. We’ll be sharing more about our updated services soon so stay tuned.

We encourage all of our Mossier job seekers to check out these job seeker resources.  If you need support in finding your next employer, don’t hesitate to reach out to info@mossier.com and we will help connect you to the right people.

Challenges lie ahead for our shared vision of a more inclusive and healthy world where everyone can thrive at work but we are so grateful to be in that fight with you.

With love and gratitude,

Nick
