An assortment of our newest 100% silk scarves with hand hemmed contrast edges. The best quality with the most beautiful new prints.

Happy Saturday everyone! I’m curled up with coffee and can’t wait to dive right into such an exciting catch up. The dog days of summer are finally here in NYC, which really took quite a long time this year. I’ll be hiding in the cool AC most of the weekend, relaxing with a new book and cooking my summer favorites. But before I do that, let’s chat about one of the most exciting new drops in MM history!

We made a twinset proto in 2019. It was one of the very first things I wanted to launch when we started MM. I personally love them. I’m also extremely picky, so I don’t really wear them from other brands, with vintage as an exception. We whipped up a cotton twinset proto very quickly, and then immediately came across a number of roadblocks.

2019. Our first sweater set proto. The Bulguri Hotel Bar in Milan and summer in NYC. I wore it everywhere! MM Blue.

The cotton didn’t cost out from the beginning. It was far too expensive. It was much more cost efficient to make a sleeveless shell, but I felt every other brand already made a sleeveless shell. I was determined to make a short sleeve sweater to pair with the cardigan. We initially begin with gold MM buttons, but that didn’t feel right either. I believe we even ordered the bulk buttons in advance and had to find another way to use them (see below). Covid arrived, and for a number of additional calendar reasons, my big dreams of a cardigan set were pushed to the bottom of the list.

Our original cardigan buttons, which in the end, were not the correct choice. Most things, not all, happen for a reason:)

I’m thrilled our Keaton Cashmere Twinset is officially live on the site for pre-order today. Why so obsessed with a twinset you ask? It’s sort of the same problem+nostalgia that motivated me to launch MM in the first place. The current product in the market doesn’t fit my body type well, and the vintage version is so much better.

As classic as it gets.

Twinsets, generally speaking, are tiny. The shells tend to look like cropped baby tees and they are always, always short. A nightmare if you’re over 5’5. I want my twinset to fit like a sweater, not like a painted on t-shirt. European cashmere twinsets and vintage twinsets fit like real sweaters. You can put a turtleneck on underneath them. Enter the MM Cashmere Twinset. You don’t have to roll the sleeves up because they’re actually long enough. The hem really goes past the waistband of your jeans. It’s what I’ve always dreamed of having in my own closet, so I had a hunch some of you would feel the same if we made it. We wanted to make sure ours was unique, so they have large (not tiny) cashmere self covered buttons. The perfect vintage touch.

Because scarves have become such a staple MM accessory, we are launching seven new 100% silk scarves to pair with our new Keaton twinsets today. Many are new prints and a few are reimagined MM signatures. We work with a British print house that both creates signature prints for us and manufactures the silk scarves (with the hand rolled hems). I was blown away by the candy colored Bridle Print they created. So distinctively MM. I’m thrilled they’re all finally here!

There is so much shopping to be done this weekend. Addition to sweaters and scarves, we have oodles of new dresses ready to ship immediately! That time of year is just around the corner and wedding guest season is in full swing. We have webstock of Monroe and Lavinia in three beautiful colors that just dropped. If you haven’t been bold enough to try our Selene Zebra caftan, she’s been a quiet best seller all summer. You’ll be thrilled she’s in your closet come September.

xx,
MM

Soaking up the last beautiful month of summer.
