Port Wine Jardigans Are Here: How I’m Styling Them.

Summer is on its way out, and fall is right around the corner, which means sweater weather is almost upon us. I’ve been on a quest to find something that can not only handle the last legs of that warm August air and the oncoming whispers of the cold autumn winds, but a color that’s fit for the changing seasons. Enter: M.M.LaFleur’s newest jardigans in Port Wine.

What I love the most about this new drop is not just the color (because it is delicious, thank you so much, Jenn!), but that it’s available in three distinct silhouettes. Am I in Vegas? Because I feel like I just hit the jackpot.

In case you’re not familiar with M.M.’s iconic jardigans, a quick primer: all of our jardigans feature the structure of your favorite polished jacket, blended with the comfort of your most-loved cardigan. The slightly dry handfeel of the fabric means that they’re breathable enough to wear all summer, and come autumn, they’re a welcome layer. They’re also machine washable and wrinkle-resistant.

Here’s how I’m styling each of these three newcomers right now:

From desk to dinner, literally. My Mondays are pretty packed to the brim with meetings, and I also have ~mandatory~ girls’ dinner after work every week (the girls yearn for shared apps and martinis, and Monday is as good an excuse as any). So that means I need something that’s 1) polished enough for the office, and 2) chic enough for happy hour with my closest friends afterwards.

Starting off with the jardigan that’s never let me down: the Woolf jardigan, the original antidote to a stuffy jacket! This one puts M.M.’s signature precision tailoring on full display (fun fact, it was one of our first jardigan silhouettes, initially launched about a decade ago). I’m a big fan of pairing the Woolf with our much-loved Bia trousers: the macaroon color pops against the deep burgundy. Add the Antonia top in Ivory for a dash of draped elegance, and pair it with the Lainey 50 pump by Black Suede Studio.

No joke, my friends did try to buy this jacket right off my back. So, you’re warned.

I firmly believe that weekends are reserved for relaxing and catching up on household tasks. But that doesn’t mean you need to compromise your style! No matter what I have going on in my day, I’m always making sure I look presentable. Maybe it’s a Latina thing, or maybe I just love a compliment, but either way, you will never catch me slippin’ out in public with sweats and a t-shirt on—no matter how comfortable it is.

Personally, I’ve been styling the Maribel as a top with a pair of FRAME blue jeans, which I love because just like the Maribel, they scream, “I didn’t try too hard, and I always look this put together.” I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the comfy Arrow Loafer from Black Suede Studio: they’re the shoes to wear when you have a day filled with errands to run at the farmer’s market, Target, and your local antique store (because you can never have enough funky trinkets to fill your home, am I right?).

After all that trekking around town, you’re sure to be hungry, because speaking from experience, exerting that much energy leaves me famished. This look is ideal for taking the kiddos out to a late lunch at the family-friendly restaurant. You’re welcome and buen provecho!

Picture this: you’re traveling all morning, and you land at your destination with almost NO TIME to change before heading out to explore with the last bits of sun still out. But that’s okay… because your entire M.M. look refuses to wrinkle and is so comfortable, you forgot you had it on. So you just head out, no time wasted.

That’s my reality any time I travel in the Merritt Jardigan and Milo All-Day Jeans, and the reason why they’ve become my staple airplane mode combo. I have a few fall trips planned, and with the sun setting earlier and earlier in the day, I can’t risk a second with having to change clothes just to trot around a new town.
