What a night. Our first ever Muslims in Tech Professionals Networking Event in Melbourne set an exciting tone for what this community is building.
Collingwood Canopy on October 8 became a space for real conversations and real ambition, bringing together talented Muslims across software engineering, AI, cyber, product, design and beyond. A room full of people who are contributing to the future of tech in Australia.
We opened with a thoughtful fireside chat with Wasim El-Omari from Snowflake, diving into leadership, career growth and staying grounded in values while navigating the tech world. His experience and clarity set the stage for an evening focused on purposeful progress.
The networking that followed was genuine, focused and energising. People connected, exchanged insights and explored ways to support one another’s journeys. It was the kind of environment where professional growth and community naturally align.
And this is only the beginning. We are committed to creating more spaces, opportunities and conversations for Muslims in tech to learn, connect and thrive.

Canva has introduced a new AI model built on its own design library, capable of producing fully editable, multi-layered designs. It works across a range of formats, including social posts, presentations, whiteboards, and websites. Alongside this, Canva rolled out several product upgrades, enhanced its AI assistant, and added the ability to combine spreadsheet data with app-building tools to create interactive data-visualization widgets.
Anthropic is expanding further into the finance space with a new tool called Claude for Excel. The feature allows users to interact with their spreadsheets through a chat sidebar, making it possible to review, edit, and analyze data conversationally.
OpenAI has launched a new company knowledge capability for ChatGPT Business, Enterprise, and Education plans. The feature pulls context from connected workplace tools, allowing employees to get answers tailored to their organisation’s information. It runs on a specialised GPT-5 model designed to search across multiple internal sources and return accurate, fully-cited responses. Importantly, the system follows existing company access controls, meaning it only surfaces information the user already has permission to see.
