I’ve been fortunate to get to know some really great people over the last three years in the role I’m in.
Steve Fry is one of them.
In a networking meeting this past week, he dropped this nugget of knowledge when talking about marketing, cold calling, and sales.
“Drip, but don’t be annoying.”
A little drip, if consistently applied, fills the bucket.
You don’t want people to turn off the water completely, but they also need to be reminded that you’re still there.
I know that once you move into the annoying stage, that faucet is being turned off and it might not open again.
In my role, there has to be a balance. I have a lot of different stakeholders: students, teachers, admin, community members, employers, non-profits, community partners, etc.
Each audience requires a different angle. A different plan. A different tone. A different timing.
Too much?
The drip gets turned off. Quickly.
Too little?
The drip isn’t of concern.
Find the balance.
Drip, but don’t be annoying.
