The day began in tears,
one of those heart to hearts
gone down a muddy path.
Pajamas, too much honesty.
Touch and go.
But somehow
we pulled it out,
like the shiny bead
I found on the ground
and pocketed for you.
I knew you would treasure it,
your blue crow eyes would go big
at its shiny silliness, I knew
you would understand.
