This place gets cold - colder than I’m used to. When it hits the single digits Farenhiet it is hard to even dress warm enough to brace yourself against it. You can stand still too long in it, keeping moving is the only way to exist in the cold.
Some things must lay fallow in winter though - my basement darkroom is too cold to effectively pull prints and sometimes the lack of inertia from waking up in a warm house means less time out and about taking photos. That’s okay though - gotta remind ourselves that the seasons do direct our lives, to fight it is hubris.
Nature doesn’t bend to our desires. It isn’t supposed to. We exist in it, as part of it….plus it doesn’t hurt that I like the cold. Come spring the darkroom will be back up and running - as well as the rest of CNY.
