Since I have been on a long journey to manage and treat my mental health symptoms, I have gained a lot of knowledge including what works and what doesn’t work for me. I hope that by sharing this information, that others will be supported in discovering what works for them. It is surely not the same for all of us.
Most recently, I did a treatment at the beginning of this year that has been especially helpful. After researching the new SAINT TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) protocol developed at Stanford, I was hoping to discover a way that I could get this form of TMS treatment without spending a fortune. Not yet using Medicare since I am still on my wife’s work insurance plan, this was going to be an out of pocket cost. (Medicare has approved this treatment for coverage starting this year.) Since I have also gone to Mental Health programs that did more harm than good over the years, I wanted to avoid that outcome. My wife was clearly skeptical having seen me fail to benefit from a number of methods over the 26 years that we have been together. Of those methods, EMDR, Energy Healing Sessions, Ketamine infusions and Spravato (Nasal Esketamine) have been the most effective. The difference with this treatment is that I am finding that the way that I am thinking has been changing in ways that are especially beneficial. I am no longer trapped as I have been with the programing I received growing up about my value being connected to my work. My lack of worldly success in standard terms has caused me a great deal of unnecessary emotional pain. My brain has been healing in unexpected ways.
Posting some images here from my Visual Journal pages dated one week apart post treatment. These were all created spontaneously without a preconceived outcome. I like to think of them as a look inside my brain.
