I have been writing with the hopes of being a published author since seventh grade. I have been working towards an epic fantasy series and have dove into this world and worked on intricacies that aren’t even mentioned in the series.

Back in April of this year (2025) I saw an open call for a phoenix focused short story anthology by Opal Kingdom Press. Having a side arch of my series involving phoenixes, I thought why not. I’m not as good at short stories as I am novel-length ideas, but I gave it a shot. On May 21st, I received an acceptance letter!

With some minor edits, “Keeper of the Flame” was published in Ashes and Embers on June 21st, 2025. (You can grab your copy here).

I continued to try to get short stories and my series published, but once I finally reached a moment of frustration and in a Facebook group of writers I was in, I posted that I was done with publishers and wanted advice on getting an editor (since I knew I needed one to self publish). I then got a few comments, one of which was from Sarah Arnette with Ps and Qs Publishing. She suggested I submit to her. Even though I was pretty determined to self publish, I thought “Why not?” If she rejected me, I’d just be back on the path I was already on. I submitted.

Two days later, she e-mailed me back. The e-mail contained “I read what you sent me. I there there is a seriously awesome story here…If [the rest of the novel] is as good as the beginning is, I’ll send you a contract…”

On August 21, 2025 I signed a contract with Ps and Qs Publishing to publish my War of Legends series.

We do not have a release date yet, but are working out final details and are expecting it to be published by the end of this month (October 2025).
