PAULS VALLEY, Oklahoma — See a new exhibit of motorcycle toys dating to the 1970s, and get a signed comic at the Toy & Action Figure Museum on Saturday.
Writer Matthew L. Price (that’s me) will be on hand for the debut of the Evel Knievel/ Team America Racing toy and comic-book exhibit at the Toy & Action Figure Museum in Pauls Valley from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 25.
The exhibit includes toys from the collection of local musician and artist Christophe Murdock.
At Saturday’s event, I will be signing the comic book “Team America Racing: Full Throttle,” the 2020s reimagining of the 1980s characters, and I’ll have some of the exclusive miniprints created by artist Ben Soto.
Get either a Howard Chaykin or Javier Saltares cover as you celebrate the new issue, with art by Josh Hood (”Star Trek”) and Lorenzo Scaramella (”Space Ghost”). If you can’t make it to Pauls Valley, you can still snag a copy at Speeding Bullet Comics, 614 N. Porter Ave. in Norman, OK.
The Toy & Action Figure Museum, 111 S. Chickasaw St. in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, opened on October 15, 2005. (I was there!) Since then, according to info from the museum, it has had visitors from every state in the union and over 40 foreign countries, with more than 50,000 visitors since it opened its doors.
The Toy & Action Figure Museum is an award-winning, accredited museum that received the Redbud Award for Best New Tourist Attraction in the state for 2006 at the Oklahoma Governor’s Conference on Tourism.
The exhibit, designed by museum curator Kevin Stark, will showcase the popular “Evel Knievel” and “Team America” toylines from the 1970s and 1980s, and explore the history of these toys.
