You’ve mastered the basics with full body training. You know how to squat, hinge, press, and row without feeling lost. Now it’s time to take the next step into a program that gives structure, balance, and progression: a Push / Pull / Legs split.
This isn’t bodybuilding fluff. This is strength training designed for beginners who want real results in the gym without burning out.
The Push / Pull / Legs (PPL) split is a classic for a reason: it organizes training around natural movement patterns.
Push = Chest, shoulders, triceps (pressing muscles).
Pull = Back, biceps, rear delts (pulling muscles).
Legs = Quads, hamstrings, glutes, calves, and core.
This means every major muscle group gets trained directly, but with enough rest between sessions for recovery. For beginners, it’s the sweet spot between volume (enough work to grow) and simplicity (not overwhelming).
