You were sold a lie.

For decades, the “official” food pyramid has been pushed in schools, hospitals, and government guidelines as the roadmap for health. At the base: bread, cereal, pasta, rice. Above it: fruits, vegetables, dairy, and meat. At the very top, like a naughty treat: fats and oils, to be eaten sparingly.

It looked scientific. It looked authoritative. It looked like the truth.

But it wasn’t.
