Hi everyone! Despite it feeling like spring just sprung days ago, it’s the first week of June.
As I shared last time, this periodical is a great way for me to reflect on highlights and favorite moments, as well as check in with how things are feeling to inform the months ahead. I encourage you to do the same in your own life each month, so you can consider this your gentle nudge.
Here’s the song I’m listening to as I put this together, in case you’d like to join me:
piping hot cups of chai sipped in the early morning
nourishing breakfast plates on the porch
cold-brewed herbal tea refreshers
spring farmers’ market bounties
ingredient prep for easy lunches
snack plates & cozy bakes
savory s’mores
If you all want any specific recipes—leave a comment and let me know!

Do we have any recent reads in common, or are any of mine on your TBR?
Daily watercoloring: a favorite ritual lately has been using the quiet morning hours or lunchtime to doodle and paint screen-free. While traveling recently, I picked up this gardening watercolor workbook on a whim and it’s been a delight.
New garden clogs & gloves: while visiting friends in Philly, we went by the Free People outlet and I happened upon these blue garden clogs for $30. They’ve quickly become a staple, and I realized after coming back home that they perfectly match my favorite garden gloves. The garden gloves are out of stock in this color, but the same pair in a great green & brown option is on sale for $7.
Infusing joy and play into the everyday: there’s a time and a place for structure and habit—and equally as important (in my opinion) is to occasionally break from it. Stay out after dark, go to a festival, break in the middle of a workday to head to the market. This bit of novelty can shift the energy in a big way, and make the days seem a bit more full and fulfilling.
New candles & cozy writing time: those in my life know I love a slow, cozy morning routine preferably with coffee, a good book, journaling, and a fantastic candle lit.
Slow, rainy days reading: we recently had a whole stretch of days with near-constant rain. At some point you just have to give in and be cozy, so I did, with low lighting, battery operated string lights, a book cued up on the Kindle, a pillar candle ready for the long haul, the sound of rain in the forest coming through a cracked window, and Clarence at my feet.
Morning sunlight: no matter the weather, I try to get outdoors first-thing in the morning prior to any screen time. Sometimes that means wandering around the yard checking on my plans, other times a walk. Regardless—this is a ritual I never regret, and one that’s been proven to have many benefits including improved sleep and mood for the day ahead.
See you back here next week for The Sunday Slowdown! In the meantime, if you haven’t read my most recent edition (which was mostly a love letter to my dog and all that he’s taught me) you can check it out here:
