Some of you may know this, but my brain and I don’t typically get along well, resulting in some mental health conditions which I have been receiving psychiatric treatment for. The medication I was taking, however, was not doing its job—and leaving me with a host of undesirable side-effects at the lowest possible dose, which never abated, as is the norm for me. So these last couple weeks have been a whirlwind of adjustment as I wean off, and try something else. This means exhaustion, mostly, at this stage. I feel like I can never get enough sleep.

In spite of this, though, we are staying on our feet, somehow. I bought makgeolli (Korean rice wine) in preparation for Seollal (Lunar New Year) on the 17th. On the night of the 16th, I will be staying up all night until sunrise on the 17th. On Seollal, I will make and eat rice cake soup, and jeon (zucchini and green onion jeon—pancakes) to go with the makgeolli. During Seollal, food and drink is offered to the ancestors and then eaten, and money is gifted to younger relatives by elders.

Are you planning to celebrate the Lunar New Year?

More wildlife at the nature preserve. It’s become my happy place.

Episode 5 (“Lurker”) of For Miles dropped this week, make sure you don’t miss it! If you haven’t started this paranormal holiday romance serial yet with a fox shifter who is probably a bit too sweet for words and a witch with a complicated past, you can catch the teaser here. Tomorrow I’m going to go clean up the posts to add the links for previous and next episodes in sequence to each post, so you can more easily navigate between them. Which, I could have done, and was advised to do… and should do before I get any further along in the serial.

Aside from that, I have finished outlining the first four books of my next series, and my next serial after For Miles wraps up—and I am excited. I’d love it if my energy came back, but we don’t wait for things to be perfect before we resume kicking ass and taking names… or whatever.

Thanks as always for coming along on this ride with me. Catch up with me in the comments and tell me about any Lunar New Year traditions you observe and what you’re hoping this Year of the Red Horse will bring you.

XOXO,

Mariah

They say if you love something, let it go…

Letting her walk away wasn’t an easy decision, but what woman wanted to be saddled with a man running on borrowed time?

Tick tock.

The golden ticket that brought them together was as much a curse as a blessing, tangled in Fate’s meddling fingers.

If he subjected her to his darker urges, the side he never wanted her to see, surely she’d be the one to walk away.

But testing Meadow’s limits excites him, especially when she responds to his heavy hand with delight, and his dominance isn’t the dividing force he hoped it would be.

Devoted submission earned her a place by his side, on her knees, where she belonged.

…if it’s meant to be, it will return to you.

Laney lost her job. Even though she'd always been a strong, hard-working, career-minded and independent woman, both she and her husband John agreed they liked her as a housewife better for several reasons. Staying home, Laney enjoyed learning to gourmet cook, working out like a gym rat, and making love to her husband on a daily basis. They had even ventured into the alternative lifestyle of a hotwife way of life and had found they loved it. Whether John arranged the dates, or Laney found her own conquests, they both were satiated by the secret taboo wife sharing acts, and especially the reclaiming of Laney by John after the steamy sex-filled dates. Laney lusted after all the work men that came to the house and John loved to see her happy and satiated, so he encouraged her playing with them, but only if he was nearby as director and overseer of the event. They enjoyed their life and the work men got to live it with them for a short hot stint of pleasure that none of them would ever forget.

But Laney was insatiable, as was John so their journey was just beginning.
