At MAPS (Medical Academy of Pediatrics and Special Needs) we are busy preparing for the upcoming Clinician and Parent Conferences next month in Philadelphia. Children’s health is always on our minds, and we are continuously searching for effective ways to prevent harm and promote optimal wellness in children.
MAPS clinicians often work with extremely sick children, and they are trained to look at root causes of chronic and complex illness. Dr. James Neuenschwander is the Medical Director of MAPS and has been a DAN! (Defeat Autism Now!) Doctor since 2007.
Maura McDonnell is a holistic pediatric RN with more than forty years of clinical experience. Maura’s drive to prevent harm and heal children was instrumental in bringing DAN! into being, and she has been a consistent and highly valued presence in the health freedom movement for decades.
Maura’s latest venture is the non-profit, Children’s Health Solutions. Maura and co-host Leila Centner, founder of the Centner Academy and Centner Wellness Centers, have put together an amazing podcast with free and accessible information for families dealing with chronic illness in their children. Leila and her husband David are champions of health and wellness, and their philanthropic efforts have benefited countless women, children, and families around the globe and in their own communities.
In this episode of the Children’s Health Solutions Series (CHSS), Maura and Leila speak with Dr. Neu about Root Causes and Natural and Effective Treatments for Chronic Illness in Children. It’s a fantastic discussion and one I knew I had to share.

As Dr. Neu discusses in the video, at MAPS the major focus has always been on educating clinicians to effectively assess and treat chronic illness in children. The level of care Dr. Neu discusses in the video interview with Maura and Leila should be the standard of care for all children. At MAPS we are working hard to make that happen. If you are a clinician and you’re interested in really making a difference for children and families, please join us at the Clinician CME Conference in Philadelphia, September 10-12th.
