Hi!!
By the time you read this, we’re officially kicking off one of the busiest stretches of travel I’ve had in a while. We’re heading to Colombia for Juan’s sister’s wedding, then Hawaii with friends, Toronto for a 437 shoot, Sonoma (where we’re staying at the DREAMIEST house…can’t wait to share more!), then NYFW...
And after all that? YOUR GIRL IS HOOOOOME.
I feel so lucky that I get to do all of this, but I’ve also learned that the week(s) before a big trip makes all the difference. I always try to spend a few days getting my life in order so Future Me has as little to think about as possible.
Today’s newsletter is basically everything I’m doing before takeoff to try to not totally tweak out. And I’m also sharing a little something new today...more on that below.
My Pre-Trip Reset
These are the things I always try to do before leaving for an extended trip. It might sound simple, but it makes coming home feel so much less overwhelming:
Finish all the laundry (coming home to clean clothes is elite)
Give the house a good reset
Restock toiletries and refill prescriptions
Empty the fridge of anything that’s about to go bad
Get the dogs all set up
Download podcasts, playlists, and shows for travel days. I made some playlists for this trip that you guys can listen to if you’re interested! 2000s R&B/hip hop , 2000s Rock & RomComs & Old Disney Vibes.
Make sure I have all my returns taken care of (maybe my least favorite part)
Prepay any bills or invoices
Pack as early as possible, and plan out your outfits ahead. Truly a game changer if you spend the time ahead!
Speaking of playlists + outfits...
A Little Something New 🤍
I’ve been having SO much fun with this newsletter and love having a place where I can share more than I do on Instagram. So starting today, I’m adding a paid option for anyone who wants a little more.
Nothing is changing with the free newsletter!! I’ll still be here every week sharing life updates, things I’m loving, beauty, travel, wellness, random thoughts...all of it.
Paid is just going to be a little extra. Think of it as our intimate group chat. More personal updates on my life, very specific recommendations, behind-the-scenes, travel guides, outfits, playlists, and all the things I want to share but don’t always have a place for.
And so we’re starting with two things I got VERY into while prepping for this trip...my new specific Spotify playlists and exactly how I pack/prep outfits for a trip (there’s a system)!
Travel Essentials Worth Space in A Carry On
I’ve picked up a few things recently that I’m really excited to bring on this trip, plus things that make me excited about the travel day. You can find alllll my travel stuff right here though.
Travel stuff I’m using this trip
Packing cubes are essential for me at this point. I organize by event/location/whatever.
Favorite doggy toiletry bag custom made by this cutie.
I don’t leave home without this portable charger!
I keep hearing people rave about these anti-nausea “inhalers” so I got some to try. Will report back!
I’ve tried a lot of sleep masks…this one is your girl. Reviews are crazy.
The Mary Poppins bag of travel. She’s chic. She fits everything.
Bottle covers that I’m geeking out over. Genius honestly!
$20 wire headphones because they’re cool and also better for your brain so why not?
I can’t imagine life without a travel steamer. A true game changer for feeling pulled together - this one is easy to use.
Stain remover pen is now locked in my travel bag
My plane routine
Clean towels that now come in travel size! Genuinely excited about this. I’ll use the whole trip. Way better than hotel towels, etc.
Cooling eye masks that I’ll also use throughout the trip. You don’t even need a fridge.
Antimicrobial skin spray - sooo good for skin before/after a flight because of all the germs and dryness!
Bloat pills are usually happening within the first day of travel so I pack them
My Travel Beauty Bag
I’d actually LOVE to know what your favorite travel products are because honestly they’re hard to find! I think brands are getting better at giving us travel options though - here are the best travel products I’ve found:
One of the best dry shampoos PERIOD. It’s hard to find the good brands in travel size!
Dae’s hair wand for fly-aways on the go.
Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant is a step I can’t skip now so I grabbed the travel version!
Deodorant (this is on repeat now, I swearrrr by it)
I keep all my brushes in this travel case
Mini fragrance: Phlur ‘Vanilla Skin’, Summer Friday’s ‘Sunlit Vanilla’ & Maison ‘Grand Soir’
These cute razors that come with a case
I’ll also link the rest of my skincare routine if you’re curious because I get asked about it all the time.
On My Mind: Habit Stacking
One thing that’s made the biggest difference in my routines lately is habit stacking.
Instead of trying to create brand-new habits, I attach them to things I’m already doing.
Coffee = vitamins.
Walk the dogs = finish with stretching.
Morning emails = LED Mask.
It sounds so simple, but taking the decision-making out of it makes everything feel so much easier to stick with. Especially before traveling, I try to make as many healthy habits automatic as possible because I know my routine is about to get thrown off for a few weeks.
See you from Colombia eeeek!
And don’t forget to fill me in on the travel beauty you always pick up!
