I am pleased to say that today the Georgia Senate voted, for the first time ever in the history of our movement, to mandate in law a hand count of the ballots in November. This moves away from being solely reliant on hackable machines. Instead, under the amended version of SB 3EX, the readable portion of the ballot will be hand counted to ensure your intent is actually how your vote is counted.

If there is any discrepancy, the superintendent and Secretary of State will be barred from certifying the election until the discrepancy in the machine count is corrected in the official tabulation.

This legislation would effectively bypass dominion. If we had merely allowed SB 189 to go into effect without passing anything, it would not have ensured a hand count. In fact, it is more likely that there would have still been exclusively machine counts. Under this version of SB 3 EX, we will have hand counted ballots for the first time ever.

I want to thank Senator Greg Dolezal. He has nothing to gain politically from this, yet he is championing this issue and leading the charge because it is the right policy move. I am so grateful that he is our candidate for Lt. Governor!

The Senate has passed the bill. The House now needs to pass the Senate bill as-is. Let your representatives know:

“Pass SB 3 EX as it passed the Senate. Preserve the hand count requirement within the bill.”
