First, not into the world stuff. Scroll way down to your sign forecast.
Okay, I’m just going to say it.
This is a difficult week.
Mars and Saturn are squaring each other almost all week, and neither planet is particularly happy with where it is. Mars is in Cancer, a sign of his fall, while Saturn is retrograde in Aries, also a sign where he struggles.
So what do we get?
Foot on the gas and foot on the brake.
Mars says, Go! Move! Do something! Fix it! Fight for it!
Saturn says, Slow down. Not so fast. You can’t. There are limitations. There are rules. There are consequences.
One reason I am heading up to a mountain retreat for three days this week is the Mars Saturn square, not to mention the Pisces eclipse square Uranus on Thursday. It’s one hell of a week ahead and my plan is to wait it out tucked away near a lake, near a spa, near a hot cold plunge.
But — and this is important — this is not a doomsday week.
Because sitting alongside all this difficulty is asteroid Ops, the wife of Saturn, who represents the happy ending after a period of travail. She is the little golden thread running through the whole story saying: Okay, yes, this is hard. But there is a solution here.
So let’s talk about the grit, the world story and then where that silver lining may appear for you.
I am not covering the eclipse here, will be writing about that from the mountain top! You can also catch todays All Signs You tube video all about that eclipse HERE.
One of the things I keep trying to teach everybody in Astroland is that astrology isn’t about the day of an event.
Nothing is just a day.
We are looking at cycles.
Mars and Saturn meet approximately every two years, and this particular cycle began with their conjunction in Aries on April 19, 2026. What happened around that date in your life?
That was the seed.
This week’s square — around Wednesday August 27th and extending through to September 4 — is the first testing point of that seed.
The story then continues through an opposition in August 2027 and another square in December 2027 before the cycle finally resolves around April 2028.
So if something feels frustrating now, don’t assume you’ve failed.
You’re at Act One of a much longer story.
The lesson is learning how to reconcile Mars’ desire to move quickly with Saturn’s demand for patience, discipline and realism.
This is where the astrology gets considerably more intense.
Mars is associated with conflict, aggression, war and, traditionally, epidemics. Saturn brings restriction, borders, walls, hardship and containment. Put the two together in a hard aspect and historically we often see stories involving conflict, blockades, disasters, infrastructure failures and things hitting a wall.
And here’s what catches my eye.
Around the original April 19 Mars-Saturn conjunction, we were already seeing major stories involving Iran, the Strait of Hormuz, Lebanon, Israel and the broader Middle East conflict.
So I would keep a very close eye on the Middle East and particularly anything involving Iran, maritime routes, blockades, military escalation or negotiations.
I also have my eye on China and Taiwan.
Why?
Because Taiwan carries an Aries signature that is being activated by Saturn, while April’s Mars-Saturn period coincided with Chinese military and rocket developments and Taiwan’s large-scale defence exercises. I would therefore not be surprised to see China-Taiwan stories suddenly re-enter the news cycle — particularly naval activity, military exercises, surrounding waters or pressure around Taiwan.
Then there’s the weather.
Mars is moving through the Ardra nakshatra, which in the sidereal system is associated with storms, disruption, destruction and the breaking down of what is no longer sustainable. I’m using the nakshatra symbolically here within my Western Tropical practice.
Mars fallen in Cancer plus Ardra makes me particularly watchful of water-related events, flooding, tropical storms and hurricanes, especially through the end of August and into early September.
And then there is another slightly unnerving possibility.
Asteroid Pan — associated symbolically with panic, pandemonium and pandemic — alongside Mars, as well as asteroid Wuhan. I am not saying we’re heading into another COVID. I don’t see this as a prediction of a repeat pandemic.
What I do see astrologically is the possibility of a panic-producing health story entering the news cycle: perhaps an epidemic scare, an avian influenza story, another disease outbreak or simply something that triggers collective post-pandemic anxiety.
The important distinction is between the event itself and the panic surrounding the event.
And then, right beside all of that, is Ops. The happy-ending asteroid.
So even in the difficult world story, I’m looking for a resolution, intervention, breakthrough, containment or unexpected solution emerging after the initial crisis.
There is also a strong leadership signature in the sky, with the Sun, South Node and Jupiter activating Leo and Mercury moving into Virgo zero degrees, right on fixed star Regulus. I would watch the period around August 20–28 for stories involving leaders, kings, presidents or other powerful figures — including stepping down, loss of power or significant changes around leadership.
Now let’s bring this down to earth — your earth.
You’re feeling the grit in home, property, family and domestic life. You may desperately want to get out of the house, move, escape or simply stop dealing with whatever responsibility has landed on your shoulders.
Don’t run away simply because you’re frustrated.
Your silver lining is in health and daily routines. Get help. Delegate. Rest. Clean up your schedule. Tend to your body.
And go back to April 19. What were you trying to accomplish then? This is your first test of that story.
The sand is in your shoe around your neighbourhood, siblings, local environment and everyday life.
There can be arguments with siblings or neighbours, moving stress, writing or work pressure.
But Saturn is also asking you for solitude. You may simply be exhausted.
Your solution? Do something you love.
Creative work, art, pleasure, romance, sex, hobbies — anything that reconnects you with your muse. Pleasure is not frivolous this week. It is medicine.
You’re trying to move too fast around money, career and your long-range dreams.
You have a big vision, Gemini. Of course you do. The problem is that you have approximately 47 things you want to accomplish simultaneously.
Mars says, Faster!
Saturn says, Absolutely not.
Slow down the production schedule. Don’t manufacture artificial deadlines.
Your silver lining is home. Rest. Read. Take a bath. Make your home a sanctuary. Your body will thank you.
Oh, Cancer.
Mars is in your sign, so you’re carrying a lot of the emotional heat.
You may be angry, frustrated, ambitious and ready to tell somebody exactly what you think.
But your career is where the pressure is landing. You may want to quit, change direction or simply stop working so damn hard.
Your body may force the issue if you don’t listen.
The silver lining is in your local world — writing, siblings, neighbours, short trips and getting out of the big career drama for a minute.
You’re working through a deeply psychological pressure cooker.
The April seed involved travel, higher education, publishing, law, foreign lands and your sense of purpose, but now the frustration is coming from the unconscious.
Self-sabotage. Old patterns. Addictions. Fear.
You may feel like running away — literally or emotionally.
The solution is purification. Clean up what you eat, what you consume, what you put into your body and what you allow into your mind.
You’re actually carrying the Ops energy this week.
Happy ending after travail.
The difficulty centres around shared money, inheritance, spousal resources, alimony or money you are entitled to but can’t quite access yet.
Something feels stalled.
But this is not the final outcome.
There is a longer financial story unfolding through 2028, potentially involving legacy wealth, family money, an inheritance or a significant settlement.
Take care of your body while you’re waiting for the money story to resolve.
Venus is in your sign, so you still have your sparkle.
But there is serious tension between relationship and career.
You may be tempted to say, That’s it. I’m done. I’m quitting. I’m getting divorced. I’m walking away.
Don’t make permanent decisions from temporary emotional heat.
Your silver lining is solitude.
Turn off the phone. Close the bathroom door. Take a bath. Go somewhere alone. Your dreams may also be remarkably informative.
You need quiet to hear yourself think.
You’re in a serious work-and-career pressure cooker.
The dream is a stable, meaningful, sustainable job or career, but you’re trying to get there too quickly.
Publishing, podcasting, international matters, education or legal issues may all be moving at warp speed.
Your answer is patience.
Your silver lining is friends, community and allies. Someone in your network may bring information, money, a job opportunity or a solution that changes the whole mood.
This one is more complicated.
Mars is moving through your eighth house, where we find shared money, inheritances, betrayal, intimacy and the things we don’t necessarily want to talk about at dinner parties.
Relationship secrets may surface. Money connected to a partner may become contentious. Some of you could be dealing with difficult conversations around children.
But career offers the silver lining.
An elder, father figure, sibling or powerful person may become a financial ally.
And you may have something surprisingly positive to announce.
Home, property and relationships are the battlefield.
Someone else may be angry, reactive or simply impossible.
There can be conflict over property, family members, living arrangements or who is doing what in the home.
And some of you may experience a genuine relationship rupture.
Your job is not to control the other person.
Your silver lining is travel, higher education, foreign lands or legal assistance. Sometimes the solution is literally to get out of the environment and see the situation from a bigger perspective.
Glass shards in your flip-flops.
You’re walking anyway.
Work, employees, landlords, leases, pets and health routines can all become frustrating. You may be trying to move too quickly and end up with a body that says, Nope. We’re done.
Slow down.
Be careful with driving and physical exertion.
And here’s the good news: chunky money.
A payout, bonus, commission, inheritance, royalty or unexpected financial blessing could arrive and take the edge off the week.
Money is the big long-term story.
You’re building toward a more stable financial life, but this week Mars is putting pressure on romance, children, entrepreneurship and shared finances.
Some of you could have arguments with a partner about money.
Don’t rush.
Your silver lining is your partner, your audience, your marketplace or your business relationships.
If you’re coupled, take a romantic getaway. Make the love nest. Have the tender conversation.
If you’re single, don’t force a new relationship under this sky.
