VÖGLEIN FLIEGT DEM NESTCHEN ZU

The baby bird, the small boat, and the brave sun are all very tired.

Tired from a day of flying, swimming, shining.

Toddlers relate.

The soprano sings “my child wants to sleep, too.”

She hopes. She sings it so.

The piano glitters steadily beneath her, like the lights reflecting on the water of a safe, dark harbor.

This is a Wiegenlied from a time before white noise machines and star lamps and probably tooth brushing. But, like any good lullaby, it works.

Jil Reinig’s hand-illustrated video of our new single, “Vöglein fliegt dem Nestchen zu” perfectly captures that magic, changing space: the dusk-singing birds, the curtains at the window, the feeling of someone safe nearby, and the day’s memories and joys all colliding into dream.

(Watch to the very end.)

Thank you for listening & for your support!
