I'm taking a hiatus for the month of August to write and recharge. Here's a curated list of how-tos to tide you over.

Dear Subscribers,

I’m taking the month of August away from posting on Substack to write and recharge.

I’m currently writing:

• A sci-fi thriller feature sample (pantsing)

• A body horror (plotting)

• A TBD - My directorial debut feature! (pantsing)

• A TV movie rom com sample (plotting)

I never write just one script at a time. I prefer to bounce between a few different scripts because working on one will often inspire something or unpick a knot in another.

In the summer when you have kiddos it can be especially hard to find large chunks of time to write. That’s why my new screenwriting approach is “write when you can”. Find little 10 to 15 minute blocks throughout the day and just dive right in without thinking too much. A week of doing a few of these a day really adds up. I find it easy to jump back in because I never really stop working on it, just hit the pause button when other things arise.
