Hi everyone and welcome to this weeks sneak peek book club video and art inspiration from the GORGEOUS Hydrangea flower!

There are over 70 different species of these beauties and they are so beautiful to pop in a flower press if you get the chance.

The blossoms (or clusters) of hydrangeas are made up of lots of beautiful small, four-petaled flowers that are clustered together to form a round or dome-shaped bloom.
They are known for their ability to change color based on the pH level of the soil which is amazing! In acidic soils, they tend to be blue or purple, while in alkaline soils, they become pink or red. Some hydrangea varieties, like 'Annabelle,' remain white regardless of soil pH. I tend to love painting them using blue, mauve and pink to create that velvety look.
Hydrangeas are often associated with gratitude, understanding, and heartfelt emotions, so a great choice for giving to someone to say thank you! They can also symbolize abundance and prosperity.

From Motif to Mandala
I love to take my flower drawings to then create Botanical Mandalas and other artworks. Below are two more designs I created using the Hydrangea as my inspiration.
