Norway is a beautiful land, made of nature and traditions. When in Oslo, we visited the Munch Museum. I’ve been in love with all his paintings of nature, the colors, the sensations. Then I saw a little note left by him:
”The forest is the perfect place for two lovers”
I love his thoughts about the deep connection with nature, the relation between human existence and nature, and how nature is part of our lives.
It was perfect. And true. So I got an idea for a story and a short film.
Two lovers, Holly and Luna.
The forest, as a metaphor for life.
But I wanted to make it a little bit more reflective and real. Usually, true love is not an easy thing to find. And creating a strong relationship is a matter of going through many difficulties.
So, I changed the initial idea: the forest is the place where two lovers are trying to meet, but they’ll face all the problems before they really meet each other. In this way, the forest becomes the metaphor of real life. And all the elements of the forest are otherwise metaphors of obstacles. Obstacles represented by trees, animals, and rocks?
The synopsis:
“Two lovers, striving to find one another and the elusive truth of love, must brave a labyrinthine forest that tests the very limits of their resolve. This wilderness stands as a stark metaphor for life itself, fraught with peril and hardship. Will they navigate the shadows to find each other? Or will the forest’s treacherous depths claim their destiny?”
It sounds very dramatic.
For one of the scenes, I thought to represent a sort of “puzzle game”. The two characters are starting from opposite sides of the map (forest), and jumping on the squares until they reach the centre of it, the place where they’re supposed to meet.
I studied the two characters. I wanted to be two girls. Simple and clean style, fewer details, fun shapes. I love how they look!
And here comes the hard part. Sorry! The film is still in its “very early” stage of production. It’s a great idea and potentially can be something cool. But life hit. Work persisted.
Another “possible project” to put in the drawer? That’s possible. But I’m still keeping the little spark alive.
Well, I’ll post more progress when I have it. If you wanna help me somehow, just let me know :)
Thanks for reading, as always.
Ciao,
Loris.
