Lori Ballen · The Real Time Creator

I was 21 years old, walking a neighborhood with an armful of Avon books, and I already understood the one thing that would end up paying me for the next thirty years.

I just didn’t have a name for it yet.

This year I’m on track to take home around $300,000. No team. No office. No employees. Just me, a laptop, and a set of systems I’ve been quietly stacking for years.

You know I bring the receipts.

Those are my numbers, not a promise of yours, and what you do with this is on you same as it’s on me. There is no “typical” income or guarantee in the content creator business.

But the engine underneath almost all of it is one thing, and it’s the same thing I was doing door to door at 21.

Lead magnets.

Here’s what I understood back then, before I had language for any of it. I needed traffic and I needed leads. The way you get leads is you put something in front of people that makes them raise their hand and say, “I want that.”

For me that was the book. I walked the neighborhood and dropped Avon books on porches. People flipped through, found a lipstick or a face cream they wanted, and called me.

Some asked for samples first. (that’s a lead magnet).

The second they gave me their information and told me they wanted something, they stopped being a stranger and became a lead. When they bought, they became a customer.

That’s the whole chain. Traffic, then the offer, then the raised hand, then the sale.

I’ve been running some version of it for over thirty years and it has never once changed. Only the delivery did.

Here’s how I do it. (some of these methods are stupid simple, and extremely effective).
