A lot of different things are cooking either on the back of my mind, in Affinity Publisher or in any state between these two. Let’s do a recap’ of where the Loop ‘n’ Loot system is moving forward to.

As you might already know, prior to the release of the core rulebook via a crowdfunded campaign, there will be:

  • A quick start rule reference booklet

    • Art 100%

    • Design 100%

    • Layout 99%

  • A free complete dungeon

    • Art 100%

    • Design 100%

    • Layout 99%

  • A free setting to kickstart your own adventures

    • Art 100%

    • Design 100%

    • Layout 99%

After the campaign (and what I hope to be a swift fulfillment), there will be more crowdfunded adventures for the upcoming books. Which are:

A procedurally generated mega dungeon! Above 50 rooms, I personally consider the dungeon to be “mega” (there will be 53 rooms). It is usually the set-up dungeon I use in conventions, so the dungeon has been thoroughly tested for 2 years now. I'll talked more extensively about it in 2025, but imagine yourself running through a tomb turned as a lootable museum by greedy undead and you get the picture :).

  • Design 85%

  • Layout 75%

A dungeon generator procedure based on the eastern way of writing story structure which are less about conflicts and more about people existing in a world (think of any Ghibli movie you have watched). The book is partly a research project with another teacher colleague. The colleague in question is a 5E advocate, so we are looking at a solution that would work for multiple systems.

This is the next big solo thing after the Museum of the 4 Queens. And even if the book is not planned before 2026, I’m already starting the playtests. The book is designed to be the “Forgotten Realms” of Loop ‘n’ Loot I dare use the analogy. The first book will be focusing on 1 island in world, more books for more islands later :)

I started to work on a miniature game a couple of years ago when my favorite game (Guild Ball) died. I had a prototype, playtesting a bit but something was off. So I scrapped everything and started again last week as I was on holiday. The new direction is very exciting but I need to pace myself because the core rulebook’s crowdfunded campaign must be my main focus. But yeah, miniature game incoming!

That is already A LOT! But, Loop ‘n’ Loot has been designed to be supported for a very long time. It is not a one-shot book, I am not going to design systems after systems, there is Loop ‘n’ Loot core rulebook and then there are supplements of the systems!

As usual, don’t forget to subscribe to the newsletter to follow the progress of all these different projects!
