This summer, as Eugene swelters under a heat advisory and mourns the fifth year anniversary of the 2021 Pacific Northwest Heat Dome which killed over 500 people across the region, the Eugene Clean Energy Fund Campaign is working to pass an initiative which could dramatically expand incentives for low income households to adopt air conditioning.
On this episode of Locus Focus we talk with Aya Cockram, Oregon Energy Transition Organizer at Breach Collective, about The Eugene Clean Energy Fund, which, like the Portland Clean Energy Fund, would establish a 2% fee on billion dollar corporations operating in Eugene in order to fund climate and sustainability initiatives.
