Hi friends! It’s been a BUSY summer, but I’m so excited that I can finally (officially, and professionally) share more details about my first book with NavPress, Interwoven Discipleship: How the Trinity Redefines Power, Belonging, and Christian Community.
First things first! Check out this cover if you haven’t seen her yet! The artist did a fantastic job depicting the subtitle through the cover art. When I look at this, I see power as the triangle, belonging as the circle, and Christian community as the square. I’m not sure if that’s what they were going for, but that’s what it means to me. :)
Next: I’m thrilled to share that expert scholar, professor, and theologian Dr. Amy Brown Hughes authored the forward. Her words provide such a lovely entry point for the book. She also shared that my book felt like “If Rachel Held Evans was a Swifty” and that felt like the highest of high praise.

Other updates:
I spent some time this earlier this month in Chicago with my Northern Seminary cohort as we pondered theology of the Body together (this photo technically features two DMin cohorts). The time we spend together are always some of my favorite weeks of the year!
Kate Boyd and I are putting the finishing touches on Decentering David for Brazos, and we’re looking forward to turning in our manuscript at the end of the summer. We’re each finishing up our last chapter and will spend the rest of the summer editing, rearranging, and polishing. Keep your eyes peeled for updates on that front in 2027!
For I Read Something Bad Podcast listeners, over the summer we’re reading Katabasis. Keep your eyes peeled for an episode dropping in July featuring Beth Felker Jones as we journey together through hell.
Finally, I’m excited to share that I’ll be presenting at the ETS annual meeting for the very first time! My presentation, Defending the Faith without Defensiveness, features my interdisciplinary work that connects the seminary classroom to hospital chaplaincy. I’m excited to share about how embodiment and relational trust form a lived apologetic (particularly in places where Christian authority isn’t automatically assumed and where Christians aren’t in power). Good news for SBL friends, I’m presenting on Thursday, so if you’re arriving early, I hope we get to connect!
My weekend plans include poolside grading, chaotic kid wrangling, and teaching fourth & fifth graders on Sunday.
