What heat is to fire self-custody is to Bitcoin.

They are inseparable.

Bitcoin is money.

Money is in your wallet.

In the precious metals world the saying goes:

“If you dont hold it, you dont own it.”

If the gold coin is not in your hands, you do not own the coin. If the bitcoin is not in your wallet you do not own the coin either.

Same goes for stocks. If you do not hold the stock certificate you do not own the stock. Not even the brokerage that sell you the stock own said stock. It is owned by one single entity.

We know from Dodd-Frank that you do not own your money. And not even the banks own the money either.

You don’t own your home.

You don’t own your stocks.

You don’t own you money.

You don’t own your data.

You don’t own your persona.

You don’t even own your time.

Your life is rented.

Everyones life is. So no matter how hard you might have worked. No matter how old you are: you live on borrowed time.

People like British Hodl seem to have forgotten that. Or willfully doesnt know.

MSTR is no better.

Either you hold the title to your home or you dont. You hold the stock certificate or you dont. You either hold the gold in your hand or you dont. You either have your bitcoin or you dont.

A store of value held in someone elses hands is vaporware at best. A lie at its worse.

To say one should buy IBIT over Bitcoin is bare naked ignorance masked as confidence.

However British does make a point. Sovereignty isn’t for everyone.

Self-custody is for sovereigns. Sovereignty means taking responsibility. Taking responsibility means dont trust, verify. Verifying takes work. Working to be sovereign gives you ownership.

In the information age ownership is everything.

This is why Bitcoin exists.

Money is a representation of your time and effort.

Bitcoin is money.

You either own Bitcoin in your wallet or you dont. There is no middle ground.

Without fire there is no heat.

Without self-custody there is no Bitcoin.
