Hey there. Here’s what I’ve been up to this week:
I bought some acrylic paint markers, which seem to be all the rage. I talked about them a bit in today’s video on both Instagram and TikTok. Anybody used these yet? I could use some tips on paper.
I learned about MACEOs, or mini ACEOs. They’re the size of tobacco cards from the early 1900’s, about 1-7/16” x 2-5/8” (3.65 cm x 6.67 cm), though the person I saw making them first was doing 1-1/2” x 2-1/2”, to use up scraps from full size ACEOs. I’ve been sketching in MACEO size this week, to see how it feels. Small, but not too small. Examples coming soon, but for now, here are some thoughts on TikTok and Instagram.
I learned more about mail clubs, which I don’t think I explained at all in my last email. These are not swap groups. This is an artist, sending out a package of themed stuff in the mail once a month. I asked for examples in this post on TikTok, and some mail club artists shared photos of their latest drops. There’s something for everyone.
Elsewhere, I enjoyed listening to Lizz (Insta and TikTok) talk about the business of being an artist in 2026, and watching Burnt.brush sketch with pastels on Instagram.
