Design Dilemmas

Good morning lovely subscribers and today, I am feeling slightly jaded. And VERY tired. I am rubbish at two nights on the trot and simply cannot cope but this week, I went to York Races on Thursday, followed by a trip to a Hull beach with Leo in the pouring rain and wind to measure groynes before coming home to prepare a three course dinner for ten people in my kitchen. Honestly, just writing this has tired me out. On the plus side, it is only Saturday and I have all of tomorrow (which will now be today) to bring myself back to life. On the plus side, I decided to do all the tidying up after my dinner party after they’d gone which meant that although I didn’t go to bed until 2.30 am, I was able to wake this morning and make a cup of tea in a tidy kitchen. A small win, but this afternoon it is NOT feeling like a win as I can’t recall the last time I went to bed that late. It should be banned, really.

Anyway, I have a busy work week coming up and on top of that, my Mum and her partner John are coming to stay for three nights to do a mini tour of York and perhaps a beach visit. It’s been a while since I’ve seen her so I’m looking forward to it and they have already had me book their favourite restaurant, Little Italy, for her birthday dinner on Wednesday night for us all to celebrate. Leo is still, astonishingly, off school during what feels like the longest summer break EVER with still another two or more weeks to go before he has to start getting out of bed before midday. I like not having to rush up in the morning, admittedly, and have got very used to doing Wordle and Connections in bed every morning, but I am quite looking forward to the structure and routine that school brings to my day.

But back to business and today we’re starting off by looking extractor fans in a kitchen that’s already finished and how we can add one in without ruining the look. I’ve investigated into options for bringing a badly scratched engineered floor back to life and how to deal with an odd ‘door in the wall’ in a bedroom. There’s a couple of examples of good new home accounts to follow, plus furniture layout and what sort of rug to get. And finally, the Sunday Niche Edit is all about soap dishes.
