It has been a whirlwind year from signing the contract to developing this book baby into the finished product! And now it is out in the world, making a life of its own.
I am so proud of the finished product and wanted to take a moment to thank the person who made this all possible, Tess Jones of Egret Lake Books.
In my acknowledgements, I say something along the lines of— in a sea of no’s, Tess was my raft of a yes. I am so grateful that she took a chance on me and my book. As I have written before, publishing is a wild ride, a journey, and a highway of rejection. As authors, we pour our hearts into a document, waffle between thinking those words are brilliant and absolute crap, and, while swallowing our worst fears and possibly pride, send these pages off to scores (more like hundreds) of people to judge and usually reject. So when I received positive affirmation from someone who wanted to publish my book, I re-read that email at least five times before I shared the news with my family.
So, thank you, Tess, for all your hard work in producing a beautiful book. It has been an amazing year of collaboration. Cheers to us!
