I wrote my first book when I was fifty-six years old and I’m about to turn seventy-six. How is that possible? (My college roommate and I still can’t believe our dismembered bodies weren’t left in a cornfield during our hitchhiking trip to see Led Zeppelin in Chicago in the 60’s.)
WHISTLING IN THE DARK, my debut, just had a birthday, too. So proud of this little book that could. Despite hundreds of rejections and constant nay-saying, it’s still in publication around the world eighteen-years later! I’m incredibly grateful to Penguin/Random House for keep “my girls” around.
I’m asked all the time when my next book will be coming out, but I’m 99% sure that will be never. I still love to write, it’s a constant, you know, but I think I’ve had my fill of publishing and being in the public eye. Ten books is good by me, yet again, who knows?
I’m not much of a traveler. Rather watch The Travel Channel and sleep in my own bed, but my family and I just returned from an adventure in Idaho and I was awe struck. Nothing like a riding a horse through a stack of mountains to put things into perspective.
The rest of the summer is up for grabs, but I’m working like crazy on my gardens and hanging out with my magnificent daughter, g-kids, and our animals.
What I’m watching: HACKS. Brilliant.
What I’m reading: Stephen King’s newest—NEVER FLINCH. Love it so far.
What I’m baking: Banana bread and chocolate chip cookies.
Hugs,
Lesley
