Getting past difficult experiences isn't easy; it's not a simple switch. It requires hard work, time, patience, courage, and a change in behavior—things not everyone possesses. Strength or aloofness doesn't guarantee overcoming challenges…but sometimes it helps. Overall what I’m trying to say is moving on takes effort.
I've navigated this five times over in my life, across many relationships. Yes...I know what your thinking about now. Leigha, this isn’t a relationship newsletter. But, I’m tired of half-truths and insincere apologies. The difficult truths of life are hitting harder these days. For example, this morning someone asked and prayed for me to finish my Anthropology Studies. I've accepted that right now that wasn’t possible and moved on, processing my feelings. My passion for the subject, however, remains. So…
The gap between what we want and what is, requires confronting our perspectives, needs, and ideals of what's good and right. Surrender for me has always been the answer. My last post was a list of what the new U.S administration has implemented or reversed with the environmental policies, directly effected the way I navigate my research and how I view taking care of Our Earth.
It has taken me awhile to confront this list. Now that I have, can I move on? Or will I remain stuck in that list, daunted by it, unable to move through it like liquid, like gel that slides on by forming into something new?
I’m reminded of Makoto Fujimura and what he says in his book Culture Care. “Our arts and conversations should point towards beauty and healing. When they do, we may remind our neighbors, and ourselves, of who we are and who we can be when we exercise our capacity for empathy, gratitude, and generosity. This language of empathy is truly generative.”
