Magister Iācōbus · Learn Latin

In this short clip, taken from a real class, you’ll see my students speaking and answering questions about the geography of the Roman Empire entirely in Latin. With just a map and a few interrogative words (-ne, num, ubi, quid), we put the language into active use.

What makes it even more remarkable is the timeline: this was recorded after just one lesson. The goal is not to deliver Ciceronian speeches, but to transform Latin grammar from a “decoding” exercise into a living form of communication that reinforces the structures and vocabulary learned in class.

If you’ve ever felt that Latin is only about translation, grammar tables, and constant dictionary consultation, this is what it looks like when you completely rethink the approach using my teaching method.

If you want to learn Latin this way—actively, directly, and with a focus on real understanding—join the Latin for Beginners course and start speaking from day one.
