Choosing What To Do When Everything Feels Important

When you want to simplify your business and scale without burning out yourself or your team, you have to make tradeoffs.

The reality is that you can’t do all the things all the time and have sustainable success.

The obvious place to start is with the things that drain you or that no longer produce the return on the time or financial investment that you expect.

But what do you do when you’ve cut everything that is an obvious choice and you’re only left with things that are working or that you love doing?

When you’re no longer choosing between ‘good’ and ‘bad’ or ‘right’ and ‘wrong’ and instead you have to choose between ‘good’ and ‘better’ or between ‘right’ and ‘right now’.

That can be incredibly challenging to do...

But that is what it takes to fiercely protect your time and energy and scale your business a way that doesn’t require you to work 24 x 7 and trade your personal life for your next level of business success.

As someone who runs multiple businesses, I have to make these decisions all the time so I get how hard it can be to say no to something you really want to do.

One of my favorite things to do?

Design new jewelry and style photoshoots for my jewelry brand, Criscara.

But new jewelry collections didn’t make the priority list the past few years.

Not if I wanted to avoid overwork and overwhelm as I was scaling out Lean Scaling Co and building the AI elements of our Lean Scaling certification.

Those took incredible focus and depth to do well and deliver an exceptional experience to our clients. Unfortunately, there was no space for jewelry during this time period.

The reality is that we all have multiple things to choose between.

For some it’s multiple businesses. For others it’s multiple offers. For others it’s multiple things vying for our attention - business, family, health and wellness, aging parents, major life events, etc.

And for some it’s all of the above.

The key is to define what is most important to you right now and commit to make the tradeoffs.

That’s what true Visionary Leadership is all about.

So, what’s most important to you right now in this season of business and life? And how can you go all in on that and let everything else go (for now)?
