Bookends- my new decor fav

Hello and welcome to the most inconsistent newsletter on planet Earth.

I hope everyone is well and surviving the multiple heatwaves this summer keeps throwing at us - not to sound like the beginning of every Teams meeting since May.

I’m back with a renewed passion for bookends, a look at what’s just landed on the website, highlights from my latest car boot trip and, of course, this week’s Marketplace finds.

My favourite section of the newsletter! This time, I’m sharing a project from 2025, where the lovely Emily Brooks Colour used some of my pieces in this incredible renovation. Look closely and you’ll spot my large ceramic vase, hand glazed plate and candlestick to the left of the shelving!

I go through phases with different decor heroes of the moment, and currently it’s bookends. I cannot get enough of them. With so much character and versatility, they’re such an easy way to bring fun, colour and something a little different to your shelves.

There are, of course, the classic onyx horse bookends, but lately I’ve been finding a whole load of much more unusual pairs. Shop the top bookends here.

Last Thursday saw me heading out to the car boot at the crack of dawn, and it turned out to be a very successful trip!

Car boots can be so hit or miss. You never know whether someone will turn up with their entire china collection, or whether you’ll find just enough pieces to make the early start worthwhile. However, when you have your bestie on hand, what can go wrong?

It’s always more fun going with her because A) she’s an enabler and B) we have exactly the same taste, so we can bulk-buy and divide everything between her home and Lazy Home.

1. Brown Two-Seater Maralunga Sofa by Vico Magistretti for Cassina — £1,500

   Now, I know this has a higher price point, BUT for what it is, this is such a good deal. If I didn’t have the world’s smallest hallway, I would have bought this for my living room. I’m obsessed with this sofa design and its adjustable headrests.

2. Large Modern Hand-Painted Canvas — £300

   I thought this piece had so much charm and would look amazing behind a bed or in a hallway.

3. Pair of 1970s Vintage Armchairs — £100

   This is an absolute steal for the pair - or even for the chair on the left alone. They both need a good clean and perhaps a little extra stuffing in the cushions, but that 70s fabric on the left is PERFECT.
