For a long time, I thought I had to know everything before starting. I’d do the research, think in circles, sit with a problem for days, and that was how I felt safe.
But recently, l’ve been in more situations where ideas need to come fast, on the spot, out loud, sometimes in front of other people.
And my brain literally stopped working.
At first I thought: l'm not good at this :(
but now i’m starting to think: maybe this is just a different kind of thinking.
Some people are sparks, some people are slow burns. Neither is better, neither is wrong.
I’m still learning what to do when my mind goes quiet… but maybe ideas begin there too? In the pause, in the not-knowing.
In that very small shift when I stop forcing an answer/result and start asking a better question, when I let myself circle around, instead of going forward blindly and getting stuck.
I guess that’s where things begin sometimes.

Margins of Design is a new series I’ve been meaning to start for a while. It’s a quiet space for thoughts that don’t always fit into process decks, and for the softer side of creative process.
I’ve always been the kind of person who overthinks way too much before I start. I research, reflect, and need time to circle around ideas before they take shape. And lately I’ve been reflecting on that…
✻ Hi to all creatives! Curious if anyone else feels this way too? or do you have your own way of getting unstuck?
