Hello hello!
Welcome to a new year! The last time we connected was a different time and place. Likely before the world was literally and figuratively burning down. I’ve been working on a few projects that I am excited to share about in the coming weeks and months…
Recently, I’ve been thinking a lot about the changes these past few years have ushered in for me personally and for us collectively.
In my circles I sense a tone change. While there’s still a fair amount of hand-wringing, there’s also an awareness that this constant state of nervous system dysregulation (i.e. doom scrolling, outrage posting, or just anxious rumination) is unsustainable.
I sense a maturity developing of how we handle the absolute evil we’ve sensed but couldn’t find, the grief of losing people while they live, the pace of change in the face of a world in tatters, the instability of systems crumbling without replacement.
And so, the questions that emerge sound like... How do we proceed with that knowledge? What do we do instead? What do we need? How can I help?
I believe that we all have something to contribute. We all have a place in our collective story, a role to play.
It is only when we are connected to ourselves, our talents, our gifts, that we are able to participate in healthy and healing ways. Our connection to Self, to our inner voice that helps us to heal what ails us individually, allowing us to remain regulated and not leak our unhealed traumas all over. This is what I see when I peek out into the broader, collective conversation... a cacophony of unhealed trauma.
And so, I ask myself, what can I do about that?
For me, the answer has always been that I see people. From my years as a photographer trying to capture an image of the essence of a person to the emotional coaching and inner voice facilitation that I’ve devoted myself to over these past years. To see people in the truth of who they are, and to nurture and encourage the emergence of what desires to flow through them... that is my gift, my calling, my biggest desire, and greatest joy.
It feels funny to state it plainly. A hunk of awkward with a dash of relief.
And so, here I am. Stating it plainly. And I invite you along.
What we need in the face of chaos are the well ones. Not perfect. The healing, the healed, and the healers. The tenacious creatives.
This is our Super Bowl. This is our moment in the sun. Where the rubber meets the road.
If we endlessly dive into our own psyche and unhealed trauma, it’s only a matter of time before we’re just naval gazing and reading a bunch of theory instead of actually practicing what we think* we have learned.
Let’s take all this healing work and self-development out for a spin, shall we?
And so, if you too are a tenacious creative; one with an idea you can’t let go, a vision you won’t leave behind, a dream you can’t let die... welcome. And if you’ve been trying to find the way that you can bring your gifts to bear in this moment… even if (especially if) you have no idea why you or how.
And I believe that we will because we are the CREATIVE GENERATION.
You are my people. And it is my hope, joy and great honor to gather you all together to connect, inspire, and build together... whatever comes next.
I’ve been working on several projects for a while now. On the surface they seem like very different things. While I knew deep in my bones that they were related, figuring out where to begin and how to explain them has taken time.
Creativity, Procrastination, New World Education, Elderhood, Entrepreneurship… they all swirled around within me for a while. Each whispering what I needed to know when it was right (and not a moment before, let me tell ya’).
The waiting, oh the waiting! To just sit and listen. Ugh! To deal with the impatience that rises when you have something meaningful coming through you that’s half baked… I would pay to be a fly on the wall and just watch my face in these moments. I found the patience, confidence, and trust required to keep at it as it was emerging to be lessons of their own.
For now, I am satisfied to feel like I have a hint of the bigger picture. Not much more than a mental sketch, but I’m excited to fill in the picture. I’m out on a limb. Way… WAY more uncomfortable than I imagined.
All I know for sure is that it is time to begin sharing.
This is what it looks like in my head…
So in this new year, if you are trying to bring forward a vision, idea, business, or project that has been incubating for a while and you’re figuring it all out… WELCOME! Let’s walk along this strange path together!
Until Next Time,
Laura
