This morning the garden was very quiet.
That particular February quiet, when everything still looks asleep, the beds are bare, the air cold enough to sting your finger; and yet something has shifted.
The light is different, softer somehow; paler and lingering a little longer.
I wrapped up in my coat and wandered out with a morning cup of tea, more out of habit than purpose. I let the chickens out, a slow affair as they tentatively check the air for dampness before leaving their house.
I then perched on our fallen apple tree branch to enjoy the snowdrops; our first snowdrops. We have a few different varieties, some early and some late, but it’s so lovely to have a small carpet forming in the orchard.
Not because they’re dramatic; they’re the opposite. Small, modest, almost shy, you could easily miss them. But they feel like a whisper that says, it’s starting again.
A quiet kind of hope.
And every year I find myself thinking the same thing…what would this moment smell like?
Cold earth softening.
Wet moss.
Clean air.
Something green and alive just beneath the surface.
That in-between season, not winter, not yet spring, when everything feels still but full of promise.
Snowdrop, our second fragrance, is inspired by that seasonal moment. I wanted to bottle a feeling and create something fresh and airy, almost translucent at first, then greener and softer, settling into a gentle warmth you want to stay close to.
Snowdrop feels really personal to me; introspective.; a fragrance full of hope and the promise of new beginnings. It’s luminous and beautiful and I’m so proud to share it with you today on National Snowdrop Day.
My hope is that when you wear it, it feels like a small breath of optimism, a reminder that the nature is waking up and new beginnings are on the way.
With love,
Laura x
