La Scarlatte · Creative Cocoon Art Club | Pauline Teunissen

As the month comes to a close, I find so much joy in looking back at what we’ve created together in our cosy art club. It’s a wonderful time to pause and reflect on the lines and shapes that flowed from our sessions.

This post is a bit different from our usual ones, as we had a pause month. I was away on holiday with my family and took some well-needed rest. In this post, I’ve gathered sketches from that holiday, along with some exclusive, ‘under the radar’ pieces I haven’t shared anywhere else yet—you’re the first to see them.

A video about the materials I took with me to Cornwall, and another one with all my sketches from the trip wil follow soon.

I also want to invite you to take a mindful moment for yourself: look back at your own work this month. What did you learn? How did it feel to connect with nature on the page? I’d love to hear about your own creative journey in the comments.

There was no work at our club in July because I was taking a break, but these two are from Els and me, from our Flower Meadow workshop in June. I love the bright colours in the artwork Els made!

Els, Pauline

The summer workshop month was a blast; I’m really enjoying these seasonal workshop months. The autumn-themed workshop month will be in September:)

The past month was partly a holiday trip, and I always find it difficult to strike a balance between spending time with my family and taking time to draw in peace and quiet, as both help me relax in different ways. I found new places to draw and had a breakthrough moment. Here’s what July looked like behind the studio door.
