1. Know Your Child’s Teachers 👩🏫
Know each teacher’s name and their preferred method of communication — whether that’s email, ClassDojo, or another school-approved application.
2. Know Your School’s IEP/504 Coordinator 📋
Know who coordinates IEPs and 504 Plans at your child’s school, their name, and how to contact them. They can be an important resource when scheduling meetings or asking questions about implementation.
3. Create a “All About Me” One-Page Summary 💙
Consider creating a one-page sheet highlighting important things the adults working with your child should know — including known triggers, favorite topics, interests, preferred people on campus, and things that may help your child feel comfortable and connected.
For example: “My child dislikes the color red, so please avoid assigning her the color red whenever possible.”
This can help staff better understand your child, build connections, and be aware of potential triggers or preferences.

5. Know the Transportation & Drop-Off Procedures 🚌
If your child rides the bus, know the bus driver’s name and whether any other adults are assigned to the bus. If you drop off or pick up your child, make sure you understand the school’s drop-off and pick-up procedures.
