First, let’s dispense with the media spin-labeling of anti-war Democrats as all being either “progressives, extremists, far-left, or anti-establishment.” Some of them are those things. However, opposition to Trump’s and Netanyahu’s destructive war of choice against Iran is broad-based, both across party lines and party divisions. The only support out there for it comes from defense contractors, right-wing media, Trump’s End Times Christian fundamentalist base, and the minority of hard core race-hating manipulated Israeli and American Jewish people that want the Palestinian Arab population “removed.” Also don’t discount the greed factor, as many of Netanyahu’s enablers are aiming to profit-take on any current or future spoils of war.
Dr. Abdul El-Sayed of Michigan, the Democratic Senate nominee, and New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani, are the two lightning rods for this line of attack. Two points of reminder I would highlight in response to this ongoing propaganda campaign.
One, is that well before the October 7th Hamas attack, Netanyahu and his Cabinet made the decision to break with the Biden administration openly in order to renounce any possibility for a two-state solution for the region. Experienced diplomats and foreign policy analysts at the time took that as confirmation that the Netanyahu regime was preparing to launch aggressive operations on multiple fronts, given that no other pathway for peace in the region existed other than the long hoped for recognition of Palestine, and going from there.
Consequently, Netanyahu and his Cabinet acted to pull the rug out from under the Palestinian Authority, which was seen as the more moderate negotiating partner than the Hamas militants. The PA was the former PLO, whose longtime Chair was Yasser Arafat. While problematic, the PA was engaged in the two-state dialogue, even though many believe the proposal was long dead. The US under Biden was pushing to revive it.
How did Netanyahu undermine the PA? They capitalized on PA’s declining support, and moved to cut off their funding from the Israeli government. In a videotaped Cabinet session, Netanyahu called for funding Hamas instead, <because they also opposed the two-state solution,”> therefore recognizing and funding them would kill the idea permanently.
This fact has been covered thoroughly in the Israeli press. Netanyahu funded and recognized Hamas. Most Americans have no idea that this happened.
The other relevant point is that Netanyahu for six months at least, ignored the warnings from his IDF units on the IsraeIi perimeter that there were indications of an imminent Hamas offensive. Mossad and military intelligence informed Netanyahu directly as was necessary because he is at the top of the chain of command. Israeli press outlets covered the fact that they received warnings from Egyptian and Jordanian intelligence well in advance of the attack. This also is documented.
There is credible Intel indicating that Netanyahu, in order to get his war, took steps to suppress these reports, and redeploy his frontline eyes and ears on the ground. To in effect, let it happen, in order to give them the pretext for launching their Arab removal program.
This is not to say that Netanyahu willingly sacrificed the lives and hostage-taking of thousands of Israelis. If he did let it happen, it is likely that they badly underestimated the scale of the attack and miscalculated on the vast number of casualties.
The other side of this war gambit was to force Biden to choose between supporting or abandoning Israel, a Hobbesian choice in which he feared that if he made the wrong one, it would lose him the election to Trump.
Biden chose to support Netanyahu because after October 7th, he felt he could not do otherwise. I’m not defending that decision, which I criticized when it became clear to me that Netanyahu was committing war crimes, I’m simply stating his rationale.
Now, as far as the anti-semitic smear. Let’s look at it with a little historical perspective. In the 1993-1994 time frame there was a diplomatic breakthrough for peace in the region with the Israel-PLO authored Oslo Accord. The two principals were PLO Chair Yasser Arafat and Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin.
Rabin was no peacenik, he was a career IDF leader and was infamous for saying that the IDF should respond to Palestinian unrest by “breaking their bones.” However in a nutshell, the changes in the world at that time with the collapse of the Soviet system and their Warsaw Pact allies meant that Americans would clamor for a “peace dividend.” Therefore a massive scale back in defense spending would include cutting aid to Israel, because their strategic role as a bulwark against Soviet expansionism in the region was greatly lessened.
So Rabin opted to make peace with Israel’s enemies in order to adapt to this new geostrategic reality. And the formula, simply put, was “land for peace,” ie; a framework for the two-state solution to be explored. Without stating it explicitly, Arafat’s decision to agree to this process was him recognizing Israel’s right to exist. However to state that as such would have resulted in his ouster, but that is what Oslo represented.
The upshot is that the ultra-religious Rabbis and their faction declared war on the Rabin government. They called him a traitor, and issued a call for his assassination, the Hebrew version of Islam’s Mullahs issuing a Fatwa.
Netanyahu, the successor and protege of Ariel Sharon, (the Butcher Of Lebanon) immediately announced he was running for PM to stop Oslo.
Shortly afterwards posters started appearing on walls in Tel Aviv of PM Rabin dressed in an SS Commander’s uniform. This was done by Netanyahu’s ultra-religious supporters under the influence of the extremist West Bank Rabbis.
Not long afterwards Rabin was shot dead after a campaign appearance getting into his limosine by an Israeli Jew named Yigal Amir, who was later exposed as a Shin Bet asset. (Israeli FBI) Amir had a shrine in his home honoring Baruch Goldstein, the Israeli mass shooter who massacred 33 unarmed Muslims while in prayer at a West Bank mosque.
The widow of PM Rabin, Leah, wrote their life story in her book. She spoke of how Arafat and her husband built real trust. How she and Arafat’s wife became good friends. They all chose to forgive. (This despite the history of killing each other for decades)
But the bombshell in her book was her putting the blame on Benjamin Netanyahu for her husband’s murder. She said his was the hand behind it. The fact that he refused to denounce the Rabin-SS poster was for that reason. Leah also had enough sources among her husband’s old intelligence networks to know of what she spoke.
Netanyahu’s current Security Cabinet Chair Itamar Ben-Gvir was a then young JDL terrorist follower of the insane Rabbi Meir Kahane back when Rabin was killed. Before the shooting he threatened Rabin in a live TV interview and bragged that he was shadowing the whereabouts of Rabin’s limo for those who were tracking him down.
So, to sum up the implications of this background...
Netanyahu wanted Rabin dead for obvious reasons. To kill Oslo, to take the Prime Minister’s office, and to mass deport or kill Palestinians in large numbers in service of a land grab.
He incited and then covered up his role in the assassination of his rival, <by attacking Rabin as the ultimate anti-semite, an SS General.>
If their view of the 100% Jewish Israeli Prime Minister and war hero was that he was a Nazi and needed to be killed because he chose the path of peace, they will call anyone an anti-semite in order to demonize them.
The very same individuals today are denouncing Mayor Mamdani and Dr. El-Sayed for being an anti-semitic danger and enemy in similar terms, because they also want them dead.
Media lies are a bit easier to spot because we can fact-check. Media propaganda is not as easy to sniff out because they use and spin some verified facts, they omit many facts entirely, and create distortion by fabricating narratives of fake context. They harvest quotes, then tell you what you should think about them. Because the US media are now tabloids, they know that “hate sells.”
Think about what Netanyahu did to Rabin to prevent peace, according to his widow Leah. Read her book if you feel a need to see things through her eyes. The Rabins built and served Israel for their lifetime together. You will better understand Israelis and the history of that part of the world having read it.
So, back to Joe Biden, on one hand, he was determined to prevent a new regional Middle East conflict for many obvious reasons, especially because we were engaged in a costly proxy war with Russia in Ukraine, and would have difficulty sustaining both. On the other, he was tragically set up for a trap by Netanyahu’s collusion with Trump to interfere in the US election and reinstall him. So, what better way to trap Biden than with a war in the period leading up to the 2024 election? They had Joe profiled from his years in the Senate as “an Israel hawk,” and October 7th was cynically used to play him and his likeminded team of advisors.
Much of the background on the current fight within the Democratic Party centers on the fallout coming from Netanyahu’s wars and his operations to divide the Democrats along those lines, for the purpose of strengthening Trump.
Pretty much every media line put out regarding the progressives being extremist or anti-semitic will be a form of Israeli election interference, designed to sabotage our midterm blue wave perspective. The MAGA/GOP and the AIPAC Democrats are in league on this. No one should buy into the myth of Democratic unity, because this factor of disunity we must overcome to win out in November.
The Democratic Party is claiming they are unified, on the same page. If so, that is only on paper, and the gap between what the polls say and what it will take to get people to the polls, then defend their votes afterwards, is an entire universe.
The anti--war Democrats are not the source of this disunity. It is the unholy alliance of white supremacist Christian nationalists and Epstein class billionaires who are trying to both purge and defeat them by “gaming” the elections. Look, for example, at the GOP billionaires money that went into El-Sayed’s primary opponent Haley Stevens, who raised as much from Republican donors as did El-Sayed in totality from his individual donors.
They are using the same method of demonization and slander to incite the murders of ascendant leaders whom they fear as did Netanyahu in his own country.
So folks, a little advice, don’t fall for any of this mishagosh, don’t get played like a schmuck. Elect Democrats who want to fight the right war against the right enemy with the right strategy, regardless of whatever label you see stuck on them by a media which has an agenda which is not the same as ours.
On that note, “See BS, on CBS.”
Have a great day y’all.
