As the UA landscape evolves, so do the creative trends that shape how games communicate with their audiences. With the rise of Applovin and increased spend on SDK networks, I’ve decided to bring you a monthly trends review of top-performing playable ads across different genres.

📖The Playable BIBLE: Winning recipe for 2026

Playable ads in 2025 stopped being a “cool side format” and quietly became the backbone of serious UA, especially once you plug them into video‑led funnels, AI workflows, and brutal creative volume.

For those who read only summaries, here are playable trends in July in a nutshell:

  • Everything is a playable mechanic

    • The library of playable mechanics keeps growing. Instead of relying on proven templates like pull-the-pin or sorting puzzles, publishers are looking far beyond the mobile gaming world for inspiration. Clash of Clans transforms the classic Tetris formula into a defensive strategy puzzle, showing that recognizable gameplay loops can be successfully adapted to almost any game genre.

  • Football is (was) everywhere

    • One of the most recognizable playable trends this month comes from outside the gaming industry altogether. Football-inspired mechanics are becoming increasingly common, and publishers are finding creative ways to blend them into genres where they don’t naturally belong. Instead of creating another endless runner or survivor clone, developers are turning football into a familiar interaction layer that makes completely different gameplay feel fresh and instantly understandable.

  • One game, dozens of playables

    • Games packed with multiple mini-games have a huge advantage in user acquisition - they don’t need to sell the entire app in a single playable. Instead, they can focus on one satisfying mechanic at a time. Better yet, if that mechanic naturally lends itself to a tutorial, you’ve got a recipe for a highly engaging playable. Puzzle Page is a perfect example of this strategy.
