Hi Kwik Brain,

By the end of this you’ll have one habit that helps you learn faster than doing more, plus the exact way to run it in 15 minutes. It runs against instinct. When you want to get better at something, more practice feels like the obvious move.

The data says otherwise.

Researchers ran a field experiment inside a large company. One group spent the last 15 minutes of each training day writing down what they had learned. The other group used those same 15 minutes to keep practicing.

The reflection group won. They scored 22.8% higher on the final test, even though the practice group spent more time on the actual work.

There is a Japanese name for this: hansei. Honest, structured reflection with no back-patting. Look back, find the gap, name the fix.

Reps give you experience. Reflection turns that experience into a lesson you can use again.

Skip the second step and your reps blur together. You did the thing, but you never pulled out what worked and what didn’t, so the next day you repeat the same mistakes with more energy. The looking-back is where the learning locks in.

At the end of your day, before you close the laptop, answer three questions. Write them down. Putting it in words is what forces the lesson out, so thinking it in your head is not enough.

  • What worked today?

  • What was still weak?

  • What is one thing I will do differently tomorrow?

The honesty is what makes it work. Skip the part where you congratulate yourself, aim straight at the gap, and name one change. One concrete adjustment beats a long list you will never touch.

Set a timer for 15 minutes at the end of today. Answer the three questions on paper. Tomorrow, act on the single change you named.

No new app, no system to build. Fifteen minutes and a page.

Most people think they get better by doing more. You get better by understanding what you just did.
