VICTORY FOR BYRON DONALDS!
Florida Republicans have chosen Congressman Byron Donalds as their nominee for governor, handing him a commanding victory in one of the largest Republican fields in the country.
With the results still being finalized, Donalds held approximately 49 percent of the vote. His nearest opponent, Lieutenant Governor Jay Collins, stood at roughly 24.7 percent. That placed Donalds more than 24 percentage points ahead of his closest challenger. He defeated ten Republican opponents: Jay Collins, James Fishback, Jim Holcomb, Arthur Joseph McCaffrey, Daniel Nokovich, Paul Renner, Rachel Rodriguez, James W. Shaw, Caneste Succe and Bobby Williams.
Now the primary is over. I hope every one of those candidates and their supporters will accept Byron Donalds’ invitation to come together. Florida needs their ideas, their energy and their voters in the Florida First, America First movement.
Republicans also entered Election Day with a turnout advantage. Approximately 663,000 Republican ballots had already been cast by Friday, compared with about 610,000 Democratic ballots. That was an early Republican advantage of approximately 53,000 ballots before Election Day voting was added.
Donalds will face Democratic nominee David Jolly in the November 3 general election. Jolly formerly served in Congress as a Republican, later became an independent and joined the Democratic Party in 2025. Florida Democrats have now nominated a former Republican for governor for the second consecutive election.
The latest two poll average has Donalds leading Jolly 45.5 percent to 39.5 percent, a six point advantage. The newest individual poll placed Donalds ahead 45 percent to 38 percent. Another recent poll showed him leading 46 percent to 41 percent.
Tonight belongs to Byron Donalds and the Florida voters who delivered this decisive victory. Tomorrow the campaign to keep Florida strong, free and prosperous begins.
