I was talking with a friend about why we’re a no-shoe house and wanted to put this into article form —because most people do wear their shoes in the house and I just don’t get it. My dad’s house was a no-shoe house… my mom’s wasn’t. You can’t half-ass this kind of household decision. It has to be all or nothing, in my opinion—the purist in me is coming out.
When I went to college and had my own apartment , I did the same thing —NO SHOES. It stuck with me (thank you, daddy!) I probably seemed like a total loon to friends who came over, but hey — at least my floors were clean.
Why it’s all or nothing (again, in my opinion) —it’s like having a peeing section in your swimming pool. It doesn’t work when half the house wears shoes inside and half removes them at the door…
