Welcome to my Substack, The Publishing Pursuit! I’m so excited to begin this journey and have a new way of connecting with likeminded writers, readers, and friends! As a writer in the modern world, I think we’ve all heard the advice that you simply must start a bloooog. And truth be told, I never wanted to. I didn’t think that I had enough to say, I didn’t think anyone would care to read my musings, and I would rather spend the time working on my WIPs (works-in-progress for anyone not up on the lingo!) than writing blog posts and screaming into the void.

But recently, I attended a writing workshop where we discussed the merits of the bloooog, and I realized that it could be a useful tool for a completely different reason than the intended audience reach. A blog can be an accountability tool.

I had never considered this, and to be honest, accountability is something I struggle with as a writer. If I miss a self-imposed deadline, it’s unlikely I’ll feel bad about it. But here, I can publish my deadlines, announce them to anyone willing to listen! And who wants to let internet strangers down? Not me, I’m a people pleaser!

So, here’s an honest look at what you can expect from me here on The Publishing Pursuit:

I can’t really say for sure. I would love to share updates from my writing journey, my thoughts on recent reads, tidbits from my WIP, and tons of other stuff about writing fiction. But I can’t promise that my content won’t have a mind of it’s own. Even if my last three posts are book reviews, if I’m in the mood for another book review, that’s probably what I’ll post. If I’m working on my current project with a ferocity that I can only hope infects me, I’ll be more inclined to yap about it to my internet besties.
