Today, I had the opportunity together with the Bitskwela team to speak at the Commission on Audit (COA) about Blockchain Architecture, Components, and Government Use Cases and the experience made something very clear:
Government employees are ready to understand blockchain. They’re curious, open, and hungry for practical applications that solve real problems.
Despite blockchain’s reputation as a complex or “crypto-only” technology, the audience connected deeply with the core idea that blockchain is a trust machine. A system that preserves integrity, enforces transparency, and prevents tampering all without relying on a single centralized authority.
And during the talk, several themes resonated strongly:
COA’s role is built on verification. Blockchain provides an immutable ledger that strengthens accountability and reduces manual checking.
From procurement to record-keeping, blockchain can create systems that are transparent by design.
They offer controlled access, strong governance, and verifiable data integrity without exposing sensitive information publicly.
Document verification, procurement monitoring, asset management, identity systems, medical records, and permit issuance were some of the examples that sparked interest.
What surprised me most was the feedback:
They wanted longer sessions, deeper use cases, and even hands-on activities.
This confirms something important:
Blockchain has a real role in Philippine governance and the people inside the system want to learn it.
Blockchain is not a hype anymore in the Philippines.
I’m excited to continue contributing to this space and to help government teams understand how blockchain can create reliability, transparency, and efficiency at scale.
