clouds captured this summer, screenshots of the video Miguel made on our trip up the coast last year…

it’s all reflections

just writing a song

and staring at myself

in a mirror

Today is a perfect fall day where it is all blue skies and yellow leaves and the sun warms you while the air is still crisp. I woke up late cause I stayed up late filled with a dreg so hard trying to write things and do things for the online portal as I released the ep today and the people need something to feast on. I do too. I feel empty now but not numb; moving, calm. As I knew, it would all come with a freeness for what is next. But in this very moment there is no next, just now. I swoooon. I weeeep. I thank all the people that pop up into my head as I reflect and hear their voices soothing me, understanding me, telling me to keep going. I write it all down. I try to convey a feeling and it is never quite complete, thank God. I try not to let myself fall into my personal pattern of avoidance and stay with the feeling. Because I know that once it is gone I will long and wish I had taken better care of it. Thank you and you and you and me. We are choosing to be here together and create something. Even on the days it feels like we are getting nothing done or doing nothing good. It’s all necessary and contributing to the flow and push of it all. You have the perfect timeline and understanding in each moment. It’s exciting to leave something to be desired. To have stones yet unturned and boxes to open. Mail in a stack to return home to. We don’t need it all instantly. We don’t neeed very much at all, yet we have. So keep it precious and curious and oh how very interesting. And if you’re going to be carrying something, choose to take it with you. Or let go. Thank you for listening if you do or reading or for just a glance, a moment, to be together in some little or big way. An eye for an eye. XO

A collage that features a page from a book my Mom made when she was a little kid as the background. Two portraits by Miguel Maldonado, a still life of my desk in the old house, spiraling cymbals, a five of disks card.
