Acceptance

I grew up in 1970’s Wales. I’d agree this was perhaps a disadvantage in some peoples minds. To me, it was wonderful. I had the mountains, the forests, the seas, the rivers, camps to build, fishing, hunting, riding bikes, walking mountains and more.

My parents sent me out in the morning, not expecting to see me again until it got dark. We weren’t afraid of paedos, I could walk into anyones house and get a meal, dogs walked free in the neighbourhood. there were bully’s we got into fights, nobody died, we got a bloody nose. We knew full well that if my mum heard from your mum that something was untoward, there was a payment due, shit would get serious.

So here we are today. ICE is murdering citizens in the street and the President of America is defending a murderer. What the fucking hell happened to get us here?

Personally, I grew up in a very ‘white’ background. Until my eldest sister brought her Mauritian boyfriend to meet us, I had never met anyone like him. I instantly loved the guy, differences are something to be celebrated and enjoyed. She eventually married him and had two wonderful kids, not to mention the grandchildren.

I never faded away from learning from other cultures since, I like to hope that the friendships I made worldwide reflects this. From my blogging, I still keep in touch with many of you, some on FB, some otherwise. I’m not scared of other cultures or religions, why should I be? We are one world, we are one people! Under whatever God you believe, we should all love one another.
