Here Is Where I Stand: My Platform for Florida’s 12th Congressional District

Voters deserve to know where candidates stand before they cast a ballot.

That is why I created this “Here Is Where I Stand” series. These articles explain my values, my record, my policy priorities, and how I would lead in Congress for Florida’s 12th Congressional District.

I am running because families in Pasco and Hillsborough Counties are facing real challenges: the rising cost of living, healthcare costs, housing and insurance pressure, protecting Social Security and Medicare, supporting veterans, strengthening public education, protecting democracy, and restoring trust in government.

These are not abstract policy debates. They are kitchen-table issues. They affect whether families can afford a home, see a doctor, retire with dignity, send children to good schools, get to work, start a business, care for loved ones, and trust that the government is working for them.

I have lived, worked, served, and raised my family in this community. As a former Hillsborough County Commissioner and Commission Chair, retired Certified Financial Planner, small business owner, caregiver, grandmother, and parent raising my grandson, I know what it means when the government works and what it means when it fails people.

Leadership matters. So does transparency.

The Five Issues I Am Asking Voters to Focus on This Week

• Affordability: housing, insurance, childcare, transportation, wages, and family budgets are connected.

• Healthcare: no family should be one medical crisis away from financial ruin.

• Veterans and military families: promises made to those who served must be promises kept.

• Social Security and Medicare: earned benefits should be protected and strengthened.

• Democracy and voting rights: voters should choose their representatives, know who represents them, and have confidence their voices matter.

If you are still deciding how to vote, I hope this series helps you see not only what I believe, but how I make decisions: by listening, examining evidence, respecting people’s lived experiences, and focusing on results.
